Auckland’s newest hotel, the M Social is an innovative lifestyle hotel with a new international brand and a prime position on Auckland’s waterfront.
The contemporary Auckland hotel is just the second M Social, the first being the Philippe Starck-designed M Social Singapore, and the latest addition to Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ signature Leng’s Collection.
M Social’s location in downtown Auckland is central to the city’s best restaurants and nightlife, and offers spectacular views of the Waitemata Harbour.
The 190-room hotel offers five room and two suite categories. Each floor features a different theme created by local street artists, incorporating elements of local culture such as the fauna, marine life and literature.
All guestrooms feature wall-to-wall windows overlooking the harbour, with the ‘Social View’ rooms on the upper floors offering the best views. The ‘Social Tribe’ rooms feature two interconnecting bedrooms, perfect for a family or group stay. The Harbour Suites and Ocean Suites provide a large living space combined with awesome views from the ninth floor and above.
Guests staying in a Social Club Room, or one of the suites, have access to the Social Lounge. This area provides a shared guest hub with communal workstations, individual tables and facilities including printers, stationary and other essentials. It will provide a space for guests to relax or socialise with other guests over a game of pool, or even a game of space invaders.
In-house restaurant Beast & Butterflies is a casual all-day dining destination complete with an outdoor terrace. The Pacific Rim menu has street food influences, including dishes that showcase the region’s best fresh seafood. The drinks menu contains a range of classic and signature cocktails alongside a comprehensive wine list of New Zealand and international wines. The Delicatessen serves a selection of fresh salads, cured meats and bakery items to eat in or on the go, as well as a bespoke coffee roasted for M Social.
In a New Zealand first, the hotel will provide self-service check-in kiosks to ensure a streamlined check-in and check-out process, plus a traditional reception desk and concierge service.
Room rates at M Social Auckland will start from NZ$279 per night, with complimentary Wi-Fi and movies.
M Social joins a suite of new hotel developments in Auckland either just opened or opening in 2018. The stylishly refurbished 80-room Hotel Grand Windsor has reopened on lower Queen St, just around the corner from the new-look Grand Mecure Auckland. Next year Sofitel So, Cordis (rebranded Langham) and Four Points by the Sheraton will all add rooms to New Zealand’s biggest city. The much anticipated five-star Park Hyatt also plans to open its doors on the waterfront in Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter in late 2018.
