New Zealand events maestro: Mike Mizrahi

From designing a 100-metre-long ‘Made in New Zealand’ silver fern to spread across the sands of a Californian beach, to creating a giant inflatable rugby ball to appear in iconic international locations, Inside Out Productions is at the fore of Kiwi innovation.

From designing a 100-metre-long ‘Made in New Zealand’ silver fern to spread across the sands of a Californian beach, to visualising a giant inflatable rugby ball to appear in iconic international locations, Inside Out Productions is at the fore of Kiwi innovation.

Mike Mizrahi and Marie Adams, directors of Inside Out Productions, have made an art form of putting together the kind of high impact productions that stand out from the crowd - making the seemingly impossible happen.

Louis Vuitton 150th
When Louis Vuitton asked Mizrahi and Adams to create an event to mark the international luxury giant’s 150th birthday Inside Out devised and constructed a giant LV travelling trunk big enough for 2000 guests.

Inside the massive trunk - that appeared in Hong Kong, Tokyo and New York - was a giant 30m wide screen from which performers and props appeared and disappeared.

The LV event catapulted Inside Out onto the international stage as world class event producers, and the small New Zealand company has gone on to create events in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

New Zealand on show
Inside Out has also created several major productions showcasing New Zealand to the world.

For the Year 2000 millennium celebrations, Mizrahi and Adams staged a three-hour extravaganza in New Zealand that brought together a cast of a thousand, including a full orchestra and a 200-member choir.

The event of the century told the story of mankind’s struggles and triumphs over the last 2000 years. Excerpts of this free televised event went out live to an estimated two billion people around the globe.

NZ’s Giant Rugby Ball
Briefed by Tourism New Zealand to create an eye catching concept to promote Rugby World Cup 2011, Inside Out visualised a world-first venue in the form of a giant inflatable rugby ball measuring 25m long by 12m high.

Inside the ball, they created a film that transports guests through New Zealand using state of the art 360-degree full emersion video technology.

The Giant Rugby Ball was unveiled beneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris in October 2007, and since then it has appeared in London next to Tower Bridge, and beside the Tokyo Tower. It is now scheduled to appear in Sydney in September 2010

The Rugby Ball venue won Gold ‘Best Temporary Structure’ in The New Zealand Design Awards 2008.
